Idaho State Police have begun investigating an accident that happened Wednesday morning that sent 2 people to the hospital with injuries.

2 Injured in Southern Idaho Highway Accident Near Atomic City

The accident happened between Arco and Blackfoot, near Atomic City, on US20 at milepost 267.6. According to the police report, the accident happened at 5:40AM on Wednesday, May 1st:

A 58-year-old male, from Blackfoot, was driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla eastbound on US20 at 267.6. A 24-year-old female, from Arco, was driving a 2010 Nissan Cube westbound on US20 at 267.6. The Nissan Cube crossed the center line and collided with the Toyota.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The male driver was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. The female driver was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

The crash blocked traffic in the area on the eastbound lanes for around 5 hours while emergency crews helped those in need and cleaned up the site.

The accident is being investigated by Idaho State Police and they are requesting information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
