
Police Update: Child Hit by Vehicle in Idaho Passes Away at Hospital
An accident in Boise on Tuesday afternoon has turned deadly after a child was hit by a pickup truck and later passed away at the hospital. The Boise Police Department shared the news on social media in a series of updates on Tuesday.
The first report was posted by the BPD at 5:22 PM, stating that the accident had happened around 4:40 that afternoon at a Boise street intersection.

According to the post, a young girl was hit at the intersection of N Harrison Blvd and W Ada Street by a pickup truck. Initially, the girl was taken to a local hospital with ‘injuries that appeared on scene to be life threatening.’ At 9:58 PM, police shared the sad news that the young girl had passed away.
The update also gave more information about the accident, stating:
A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a pickup truck was traveling west on Ada St. and stopped at a stop sign at Harrison Blvd. The pedestrian, also traveling west on Ada St., had stopped on the sidewalk on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The truck and the girl entered the intersection at the same time. Boise Police are still investigating the accident.
Pedestrian Child Killed in Idaho Accident, Driver Taken Into ICE Custody
Though not included in the social media report from the BPD, an article from KTVB states that the driver was taken into custody by ICE during the investigation following the accident. The article from the City of Boise identifies the driver as Elvin Ramos-Caballero. Elvin cooperated at the scene of the accident with officials, where a check of his records showed a federal warrant involving immigration.

ICE responded and took Elvin into custody.
A recent update from KTVB says the coroner has identified the deceased young girls as 8-year-old Mora Gerety.
