Idaho State Police Pursuit Leads to Felony Arrest in Bonneville County
Idaho State Police have arrested a man in Southern Idaho wanted on multiple warrants following a car pursuit and foot chase.
Southern Idaho Traffic Stop Leads to Car Crash, Foot Chase, and Felony Arrest
Around 10:30 this morning, November 22nd, Idaho State Police attempted a traffic stop for a turn signal violation in Idaho Falls. ISP discovered that the driver of the vehicle was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. The driver, a 34-year-old male, then fled the scene and was followed by ISP troopers.
The suspect was driving a 2006 Mazda 5, according to the report from ISP. During the pursuit, the man rammed a patrol car and police were forced to use a PIT maneuver to stop the chase. The driver then ran into a field to escape but was caught and arrested shortly after.
Police Pursuit Involves Car With a Young Child in It
The driver was booked on probable cause for multiple infractions, including Felony Child Endangerment as he had a minor child in the car with him when he decided to run. The car was also occupied by a 26-year-old female passenger.
Both passengers had minor injuries, were transported to the hospital, and have since been released.
Along with the Felony Child Endangerment charge, the driver is also looking at:
- Felony Eluding
- Felony Assault on a Police Officer
- Damage to State Property
- Resisting and Obstructing Officers
- Felony Warrants
ISP will continue to investigate the incident.
