Since the frequent loud booms that are heard around Southern Idaho don’t have a source that everyone can agree on, each explanation spawns various conspiracy theories.

One of the most recent discussions regarding the source of the booms may be the biggest conspiracy theory of them all: a man claims that looking into the source and getting close to it could get you killed.

The loud ‘booms’ in Southern Idaho are known to shake windows and scare animals but they aren’t consistent. Nobody knows when they will happen or where they come from and at least 1 man claims that if you dig too deep into the source it could end with you dying in a way equally as mysterious as the booms.

In a story on the Vigilant News website, they talk about a TikTok user from Rigby, Idaho who posted a video discussing the source of the booms and was visited by law enforcement ‘shortly after posting’ the video. The law enforcement visitor recommended that the social media influencer ‘pull the video you posted about the booms and not talk about it anymore’.

RELATED STORY: Massive Mystery Boom Heard in Southern Idaho

One of the most recent, and largest, booms happened on the evening of November 14th. Social media was in a flurry of conversation and speculation about the noise. Later it was announced that the November boom was caused by jet. We don’t believe that was the cause…but if it keeps us alive - then yes, we do believe that explanation.

Some of the other explanations for the booms include skyquakes or earthquakes, the Snake River Canyon expanding and contracting with the temperature changes, aliens, bomb testing at Mountain Home AFB, and a sonic boom from a meteor.
