
Southern Idaho Driver Dies in Car Accident After Hitting a Cow on the Highway
Over the weekend, Idaho State Police responded to a serious injury in a fiery rollover accident and a fatal crash after a driver hit a cow.
Both of the accidents happened in Southern Idaho and are being investigated by the ISP. Details on each accident are below.
Fatal Idaho Accident: Car Struck By a Truck After Hitting a Cow
On Monday morning, around 6:55, Idaho State Police responded to a fatal accident on US26 east of Idaho Falls at mile marker 365. ISP reported:
- A 2010 Volkswagen CC was traveling eastbound on US26, driven by a 30-year-old male from Idaho Falls, when it struck a cow that was on the roadway and became disabled in the travel lane.
- Due to thick fog and darkness in the area, a 2019 Ram 2500 pickup, driven by a 19-year-old male from Idaho Falls, that was traveling eastbound, struck the Volkswagen.
The driver of the Volkswagen died at the scene of the accident, and the driver of the truck was not injured. There hasn’t been any update about the status of the cow.
Female Washington Driver Injured in Fiery Idaho Rollover Accident
Idaho State Police responded to a fiery rollover accident on Sunday afternoon at 3:35 on State Highway 55. The vehicle was driven by a female from Renton, Washington. The report from the ISP states that the driver was headed south on the highway and left the road at mile marker 65, north of Horseshoe Bend.
The vehicle rolled and caught fire, and was eventually engulfed in flames. The driver was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
