
Fatal Pickup Truck vs Semi Truck Accident on Idaho Highway
Idaho State Police are investigating a deadly 2-vehicle accident that happened Friday morning.
The accident happened on March 14th a few minutes before 10AM on US95.
Fatal Semi VS Pickup Truck Crash in Idaho
Idaho State Police have reported that the accident occurred on US95 at milepost 487 in Bonner County a few miles north of Sandpoint.
Details of the fatal accident provided by the Idaho State Police news release:
A 48-year-old male, and sole occupant, from Athol, Idaho, was driving a black 2005 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on US95, when he drove left of center. The vehicle struck a southbound blue 2024 Freightliner semi-truck driven by a 31-year-old male, from Calgary, Canada, head-on. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Street cameras in Sandpoint currently show clear roads and no snow on the ground, though there are 2 accidents on the Idaho 511 map north of the accident from this morning.

One accident is at milepost 498 and the other is between mileposts 486 and 487, though the second could be a remnant from the morning accident. The ISP report says the accident reported above has been cleared and the Idaho 511 shows the current accident in the area causing alternating lane use.
There have already been a few fatal accidents in Idaho this year involving semi-trucks. Last year, there were 24 deadly semi-truck-involved crashes on Idaho highways.
