A tragic accident that happened Saturday evening between a female pedestrian and a freight train is being investigated by the Idaho State Police. The accident happened in Bonner County.
Unidentified Female Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Train in Idaho Saturday Night
The Idaho State Police responded to a fatal accident near Priest River in Bonner County on Saturday evening around 9 at the Parr Road train crossing. The train crossing is near Hidden Lane.
ISP are still working to identify the victim. The report from Idaho State Police says the ‘adult female was struck by a freight train’ at the Parr Road crossing. The train was headed northbound on the tracks.
The female pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident and investigators are working to confirm her identity. Rail traffic was impacted for around four hours as Bonner County Sheriff’s Office and Priest River Police Department assisted ISP at the scene.
Multiple train vs pedestrian or vehicle accidents have been reported in Idaho in recent years. In April of this year, a man in a truck was involved in a serious collision with a train in Southern Idaho. A family of four was killed when their vehicle was hit by a train in April of 2024. Another accident between a man from California who was walking his bike across the railroad track in Shoshone when he was hit happened in August of 2024. A juvenile was killed in 2023 when the vehicle he was in was struck by a train near the Idaho/Oregon border.
