3 Year Investigation Leads to Arrest of Idaho Man for Double Murder

A thorough and lengthy investigation has led the Idaho State Police to a suspect and an arrest regarding a double murder that happened in the spring of 2022. In May of 2022, a man and woman were murdered in New Plymouth, Idaho.

A man has been arrested by the Idaho State Police and charged with the shooting deaths of the two victims. Police believe there are other suspects involved in the murders.

Idaho State Police Arrest Murder Suspect in 2022 Double Homicide

A few days over 3 and a half years after Eric Ortega and Megan Amaya were found murdered, ISP have arrested the man they believe killed the couple. Joshua M. Kirkman initially told authorities that he didn’t know the couple, but evidence suggests he knew at least one of the victims. Eric and Megan were killed in their home on Ada Road in New Plymouth on May 14, 2022.

Police believe that Kirkman fled after the murders and threw the murder weapon, a handgun, into a canal. Authorities found the gun in the canal and identified it as the weapon used in the murders.

Police believe Kirkman didn't commit the murders alone, and other suspects are being investigated in the murders. The case is being investigated by prosecutors in Idaho and Oregon.
