Truck Driver From Washington Killed in Idaho Mountain Rollover Accident
A semi-truck rollover in the mountains of central Idaho has taken the life of the male driver from Washington.
Idaho State Police are reporting that the accident happened early in the morning, around 2 AM, of September 15th on Forest Service Road 384/Freezeout Road in the Floodwood State Forest.
The driver was a 34-year-old male from Oaksdale, Washington, and was driving a ‘1984 Western Star Semi Tractor’ according to the ISP report. The semi was headed east on the road about one and a half miles from Trapper Peak and got to close to the edge of the road.

The road gave way under the weight of the truck, and the vehicle slid off the edge. The truck rolled about 120 feet down the steep side of the mountain and came to rest against a group of trees. The driver was not wearing his seatbelt and passed away at the scene of the accident before first responders arrived.
It took emergency workers about four and a half hours to work and clear the scene.

Google Maps lists 3 different Trapper Peak locations in Idaho. One is near the Canada border and one is near the Utah border. This fatal accident happened near Trapper Peak, south of Coeur d’Alene. The ISP reports the peak as being in District 2, Central Idaho, though technically, based on previous maps, it was a little north of the actual central Idaho line.

People have argued that Boise is not part of Southern Idaho or that Stanley is also in the southern part of the state. But a map showing divider lines spaced evenly across the state proves otherwise.
