Jack in the Box made a surprising recent announcement that they will be closing up to 200 underperforming restaurant locations.

Many of those closures, 80 to 120, will happen this year.

The announcement was made in an investor's presentation and shared in a news release from Jack in the Box on Wednesday. The announcement states that there will be up to 200 closures overall, and 80 to 120 of those will happen before the end of 2025.

The rest of the closures, a list of underperforming restaurants, will happen based on ‘respective franchise agreement termination dates.’

Jack in the Box Announces Plans to Close More Than 150 Stores

While Jack in the Box seems to have a definite plan, the details of which locations will be shuttered have yet to be defined.

We don’t know which stores will close. The report isn’t specific other than stating the store closures include ‘a majority of which have been in the system for over three decades’.

Jack in the Box has dozens of locations in Idaho, Washington, and Utah.

  • 12 locations open and 2 planned in Utah
  • 32 locations open in Idaho
  • 136 locations open and 1 planned in Washington

We’ll have to wait and see if any of our locations get announced specifically over the next few days or months. CBS says we could get an update on closures in August.

Jack in the Box has restaurant locations in 22 states and Guam and franchise opportunities are available in many states.
