Growing older isn’t just seeing the world change around you, wondering where you left your keys, and feeling body pain all the time.

It’s also hearing the world around you change.

Technology and cultural changes have made some sounds obsolete. I’m not talking about the lack of hearing kind words like please and thank you.

Why Do You Never Hear These Sounds Anymore?

These sounds are nostalgic, and you’ll never hear them again because they’ve been replaced by something newer or better.

Sometimes, not hearing a sound anymore is a good thing. I worked at a fast food restaurant (Apollo Burger in Taylorsville - FYI) in Utah as a teenager, and there was a beeping sound that alerted us when a car was in the drive-thru line. That sound haunted my dreams for years.

Other times, you don’t hear a sound, and it makes you worried, like when children are quiet. If you know they aren't sleeping, it probably means they are being naughty.

This list comes from a video I made about 10 years ago after I was walking through the radio station and heard the fax machine. It scared me because I was the only one in the building, and the machine didn’t get used much, so I assumed it was a ghost.

Did I mention that the radio station is haunted, so thinking it was a ghost was valid?
