Southern Idaho is about to experience a whirlwind of weather conditions before changing back to normal conditions.

The National Weather Service is warning of strong thunderstorms, damaging wind, heavy rain, and large hail.

Freak Hail and Thunderstorm Expected in Southern Idaho This Week

A warning from NOAA and the NWS in Pocatello says the strong thunderstorms are possible Tuesday and Wednesday in parts of Southern Idaho. Some locations are likely to be hit harder than others the further east they are in the state.

Flash flooding and heavy winds are the primary threats in this storm system and a flash flood watch alert was sent out in an email for the Sawtooth/Stanley basin from 2 to 9PM on Wednesday. Rock and mud slides are also a possibility.

The storms will be at their worst and spread from central Idaho to the east beginning Wednesday afternoon into the evening. While the main storms will happen in central and eastern Idaho, other parts of Idaho will also see inclement weather.
