Multiple weather alerts have been issued across Southern Idaho as we head into the final weekend of 2024.

Wind and snow will make travel difficult and unsecured items, trees, and homes could be damaged as the storm moves through.

Wind Advisory and Winter Weather Advisories Issued in Southern Idaho

The storm will affect Southern Idaho from the Magic Valley to the eastern border with Wyoming. Travel on roads will be difficult and dangerous and the surfaces will be slick with rain and possibly snow and ice the further east you go.

  • Twin Falls is under a Wind Advisory through 5PM on Friday afternoon.
  • Burley and Pocatello areas are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 5PM on Friday afternoon.

What to Expect With the Southern Idaho Storm in Twin Falls, Burley, and Pocatello

Between now and 5PM portions of south central, southwest, the Eastern Magic Valley, and the Upper and Lower Snake River Plains in Idaho will see wind speeds around 25 to 35 miles per hour and gusts up to 50 miles per hour. These winds could blow around unsecured items and damage tree limbs. Power outages are also a possibility.

Additionally, the Winter Weather Advisory for the Eastern Magic Valley and the Upper and Lower Snake River Plains could bring 1 to 5 inches of new snow.

The new snowfall will make roads dangerous and extra slick, especially the bridges and overpasses.

Surfaces will also be slippery for pedestrians, so whether you are heading out in a vehicle or walking - be cautious and take your time. More rain and snow is expected through the weekend.
