While many were giving thanks over the Thanksgiving break, many others were grieving recent lives lost in vehicle accidents across Idaho.

Idaho State Police reported at least 5 fatalities during the Thanksgiving break between November 25th and December 1st and added 1 more on Monday of this new week. All of the fatal accidents last week happened on or near US95 in Northern Idaho.

Last week, leading up to and through Thanksgiving, Idaho State Police reported fatal accidents on US95/Highway 95 south of Moscow, in White Bird, south of Grangeville, and near Worley on Highway 58.

5 Killed in Idaho Car Accidents Over Thanksgiving Break

1 person died in the accident near Moscow on November 25th, 2 were killed in the crash in White Bird on November 29th, 1 reported death in the accident south of Grangeville, and 1 person died in the Worley accident.

1 killed in a crash on Highway 95 south of Moscow on November 25th

The Idaho State Police report states:

A blue 2001 Ford Focus, occupied by a 40-year-old male of Lewiston, Idaho, was traveling north on the highway when it approached stopped traffic. Traffic was stopped due to construction in the area. The blue Ford Focus approached the stopped traffic, swerved, striking the side of a white 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, then drove off the right shoulder down an embankment.

The driver of the Ford Focus was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained severe injuries due to the crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The accident happened at 10:38 AM on Highway 95 northbound at Eid Road.

2 killed in crash on US95 in White Bird on November 29th

ISP released an update to the original report after a second person died from their injuries following an accident in White Bird on US 95 near mile marker 222.

At approximately 09:18 p.m., a 50-year-old male from Riggins was traveling northbound on US95 in a 2017 Lexus when he crossed over into the southbound lane. A 66-year-old female from Riggins was traveling southbound on US95 in a 2015 Mercedes Benz with two passengers, a 63-year-old male, and a juvenile female, when they were struck by the Lexus.

All parties were wearing seatbelts. The occupants of the Mercedes Benz were transported with critical injuries by ground and air ambulance to a local hospital. The passenger of the 2015 Mercedes Benz, a 63-year-old male from Riggins, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The driver of the Lexus sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

The original report came out on November 29th and the update followed on December 1st.

1 killed in crash on Highway 58 near Worley on November 29th

A second fatal accident happened on the 29th in Idaho near the Washington State border at milepost 1.5 on State Highway 58.

Preliminary investigation indicates a white 2000 Honda CR-V was westbound on State Highway 58, drove left of center, and collided head-on into a blue 2011 Chrysler Town & Country which was traveling eastbound on State Highway 58.

The Honda was driven by a 31-year-old male from Aberdeen, Washington, who was the sole occupant, was not wearing his seatbelt, and succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

The Chrysler was driven by a 20-year-old female from Spokane Valley Washington. Also in the Chrysler was a 22-year-old female from Spokane Valley, Washington, an 18-year-old female from Spokane Valley, Washington, and a 17-year-old male from Moscow, Idaho. All occupants of the Chrysler were wearing their seatbelts and were transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance.

Idaho State Police are investigating the accident.

Update on December 1st regarding 1 killed in crash on US95 south of Grangeville

Idaho State Police issued an update on an accident regarding the location of the crash, which happened around milepost 236.5 on US95.

At approximately 05:07 a.m. a 30-year-old male driver from Lewiston, ID was traveling southbound on US95 in a 2003 Ford F350 pickup when he drifted off the right shoulder of the roadway. The pickup then rolled multiple times coming to rest on its driver's side against a fence. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He then succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

On Monday, ISP reported that 1 person had been killed in a crash on US30 near Hagerman on December 2nd. The accident involved a Peterbilt semi-truck and a GMC Sierra truck.
