Look For Rare Card Featuring Menendez Bros At Idaho Garage Sales
The recent release of the Netflix series Monsters and The Menendez Brothers has strangely impacted the sports card-collecting market. One item that used to be worth next to nothing has increased by hundreds of dollars due to the infamous duo seated courtside at a New York Knicks game, and that item could be waiting to be discovered by Idahoans who love a good garage sale.
I don't know why humans have such an infatuation with true crime, but we do. I was living near Los Angeles when Lyle and Erik Menendez murdered their parents Kitty and Jose with shotguns in 1989. The next year, a sports card was released and the murderous brothers can be seen sitting courtside, and thanks to Netflix, owners of these cards are selling them and making a pretty penny.

The 1990 Hoops / Panini Mark Jackson card number 205 is one of the most sought-after cards of 2024. The beautiful thing is that most of the people who have this card don't even realize what they have. I bought the card online for $5 weeks before the Menendez stories reignited interest in the case, and now people are selling them for between $100 and $2,500, depending on the condition (or grade) of the card.
