Organizers of an annual celebration of Idaho ranching culture are back at work assigning vendor booths, scheduling musicians, and gathering supplies needed for the two-day observance at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Shoshone in just a few days.

Raising and caring for livestock is one of the most time-consuming, challenging lifestyles a person can have. These men and women, along with farmers, are the backbone of the Gem State.

There are more than 25,000 farms and ranches throughout Idaho, according to Idaho State Department of Agriculture data. Idaho ranks in the top 10 nationally for more than a dozen different commodities, including potatoes, hops, milk, and cheese.

15th Annual Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering Is September 19- 20 in Shoshone, Idaho

Idaho ranchers have the tremendous responsibility of caring for livestock that feeds families from the panhandle to the southern desert and beyond. The Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering is an annual recognition of the determination and integrity of these individuals.

This year's celebration will once again be at the beautiful Lincoln County Fairgrounds (Community Center), and will feature close to a dozen bands, including Dave Stamey, Buddy Devore, Poppa Mac, and the Idaho Cowboy Band.

Food, art, and craft vendors will be on-site daily. Poetry, story sharing, and Western heritage-related activities are also part of the gathering. This is a family-friendly event, and draws people from all over the country, according to one of the event's longtime liaisons.

'It has become a signature event for South Central Idaho, attracting performers from across the United States and Canada,' said President Chris Dixon.

'Visitors from far a wide also attend, ensuring a first-class experience for all'.
