(KLIX)- Joslin Field, Magic Valley Airport has gotten a federal grant to increase capacity to and from Salt Lake City. The US Department of Transportation handed out 19 grants to small regional airports across the nation. The goal of the grant is to encourage more passenger air service to and from the Magic Valley. The $500,000 grant can be aimed at revenue guarantees or marketing support to bring in new carriers or increase capacity. SkyWest Airlines currently has three flights out of the Magic Valley airport. It provides about 630 seats each week. Passengers Currently fill about 74 percent of that. Local business groups plan on adding more money to the grant to support an additional flight.
