IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)-An Idaho State Trooper arrested a former teacher wanted out of Minnesota on a conviction of sex crimes against children during a traffic stop in late November. According to Idaho State Police, 42-year-old Aaron Hjermstad, of Cannon Falls, was arrested after he was stopped by a trooper on November 30, in Bonneville County. The ISP officer found out Hjermstad was wanted out of Hennepin County for violating his parole by being in Idaho; he had been convicted on multiple child sex abuse charges and left Minnesota before sentencing. Hjermstad was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on a fugitive warrant. Troopers seized a number of electronic items allegedly found in the vehicle that may have been connected to the crimes in Minnesota. The trooper that made the arrest was part of the Idaho State Police Criminal Interdiction Team that recently attended a training showing officers how to better identify victims and investigate suspects involved in child sex crimes and human trafficking.
