Nampa Man Sentenced for Insurance Fraud

(KLIX) – A 47-year-old Ada County man has been sentenced for insurance fraud.

David J. Gress pleaded guilty in August and, after Third District Judge George Southworth withheld judgement, was placed on two years of supervised probation, according to Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden.

Gress also must pay $518 in restitution to the Idaho Department of Insurance and $200 in court costs. He must also complete 40 hours of community service within the next 180 days.

Wasden said that in November 2017, Gress filed a claim with Allstate that said his gold clubs had been stolen from his garage, and submitted a fake receipt for the clubs.

The company started an investigation, but before it finished Gress reported to Allstate that the clubs had been found. In an interview with a DOI investigator he admitted he had fabricated the theft report and receipt in an effort to generate income after he lost his job.
