North Idaho Man Hit and Killed by SUV

SANDPOINT, Idaho (KLIX)-A 28-year-old Priest River man died from his injuries when a Jeep hit him while walking on a north Idaho road.

According to Idaho State Police, Leo Welke, was flown to Kootenai Health a little after 5 p.m. Sunday were he was pronounced dead after being struck by an SUV.

ISP said in a statement Welke was walking on Vay Road about 20 miles south of Sandpoint when a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, driven b Nichelette Greene, 38, of Spokane Valley, WA, hit him while headed south. The crash is still under investigation.
