Northern Lights May Be Visible In Idaho Tonight
ABC News is reporting that a powerful solar storm will be hitting Earth tonight. It's rated as a strong G3 solar storm which may not be great news for satellites, but shouldn't cause serious harm to the electrical grid. The good news part of this is it may mean a spectacular sky view tonight.
A powerful solar storm set to slam Earth today will make for stunning views of the Northern Lights just before New Year's Eve. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center said the "strong" storm could allow the Northern Lights to dip as far south as Oregon and Illinois.
You can check out the Space Weather Prediction Center's website if you want the technical explanation. Or, you could just look up in the sky tonight and see if there are any pretty colors up there.
