UPDATE: The National Weather Service in Boise has upgraded the Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning for the western parts of Twin Falls County extending into Owyhee County and much of western Idaho. Most of northeastern Elko County, Nevada is also under a Red Flag Warning for expected thunderstorms that could produce wildfires. NWS says storms are expected to be scattered late this afternoon and produce wind gusts up to 40 mph.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) Forecasters are predicting a chance of thunderstorms to make their way into southern Idaho prompting a Fire Weather Watch for parts of Twin Falls County. The National Weather Service in Boise issued the watch as expected thunderstorms move into the area Wednesday. Lightning from the passing storms could trigger wildfires. Much of the warning covers Twin Falls County to the west of Highway 93 into Owyhee County. NWS says a cold front from the Pacific will combine with moisture from Nevada to produce a chance of scattered thunderstorms on Wednesday. Forecasters say there is a chance of a Red Flag Warning later.
