The debut trailer for 'Powers' is a much needed sigh of relief due to the series' troubled past. It was originally intended to be an FX series a few years ago with Lucy Punch and Jason Patric to star as Powers detectives Deena Pilgrim and Christian Walker (thank goodness the roles were recast). A few months ago, we reported that Sony had confirmed that 'Powers' was going to its PlayStation Plus subscribers for free. Now, we have learned that detectives Walker and Pilgrim will be played by Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward. Heyward recently did an excellent job as Hannah in 'The Following' and Copley is known for playing the lead role in 'District 9' and as the main antagonist in 'Elysium.'

'Powers' combines detective noir, police procedural stories and superhero fantasy as Walker and Pilgrim investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities. Walker used to be a Power (a person with a superhuman ability), but now is a regular police officer in the city's Powers division. The series is based off of the comic book series of the same name, drawn by Michael Avon Oeming and written by Brian Michael Bendis. In terms of the series' supporting cast, Adam Godley (Elliott Schwartz from 'Breaking Bad'), Noah Taylor (Locke from 'Game of Thrones') and Eddie Izzard (Dr. Gideon from 'Hannibal') have joined the party.

'Powers' will debut on PlayStation consoles this December exclusively for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
