Former Queensryche Lead Singer Geoff Tate: ‘I’d Like To Know And Actually Understand Their Point Of View’
Several weeks after being ousted from his role in Queensryche, former vocalist Geoff Tate is still seeking some clarity to understand what went down.
Tate sat down for an interview with Eddie Trunk and the gang at the popular hard rock and heavy metal television show ‘That Metal Show,’ which will be broadcast on Aug. 25 as part of the program’s new season.
Speaking with Trunk, Tate says “I’d like to sit in a room with those gentlemen [referring to his former bandmates] and have them tell me face to face what the situation is. Explain their actions. I’d like to know and actually understand their point of view. I’d like to see them talk to me face to face rather than through the internet.”
Tate goes on to further explain his position by saying that “communication is a big part of any relationship, right? If nobody’s talking, then nothing’s getting settled.”
That all sounds fine and good, until you consider the allegations that have been put out there so far via official court documents filed by Tate’s former Queensryche bandmates that document a number of issues between the band and Tate. In those papers, they lodge some pretty heavy complaints, including alleged violence by Tate against the other band members prior to their performance in Brazil.
They also say that their voices in band-related decisions were being “stifled” as a result of the band’s management being handled by Tate’s wife, Susan Tate, and lodged complaints regarding her alleged mismanagement of the band’s financial affairs.
Tate’s former bandmates are moving forward without him, and recently performed their first show under the Queensryche banner with new lead singer Todd La Torre. They continue to book additional dates and will headline the 2012 South Texas Rock Fest on Oct. 13.
