ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Ranchers and county officials are taking stock of flood damage in rural areas around Elko, where officials say some roads are going to need repairs as more snow melts.

Elko County roads supervisor Terry Lister tells the Elko Daily Free Press he's been touring damaged roads with Federal Emergency Management Agency officials.

Lister says cost estimates have reached $600,000 and may higher.

At Winecup Gamble Ranch, general manager James Rogers tells the Free Press that buildings were damaged by floodwaters, but no one was hurt and livestock losses were minimal.

At Maggie Creek Ranch, manager Jon Riggs says workers are getting meals and clothing by a zip line rigged across a 40-yard gap in a washed-out road.

Griggs says a nearby Newmont Mining Corp. ranch has cattle in jeopardy
