Sebastian Bach said he was “in shock” to have discovered that Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek made his TV debut on an episode of Gilmore Girls that also featured the former Skid Row singer.

Bach played the recurring role of Gil, the lead guitarist in Lame Kim’s band Hep Alien, in the comedy-drama. Both he and Malek were seen in an episode titled “In the Clamor and the Clangor” during its fourth season – though the future Oscar winner had only three lines.

“Finally watched Bohemian Rhapsody last night and completely loved it!” Bach said in a tweet. “Reading about the movie, I’m in shock that Rami Malek[’s] 1st ever acting job was on 1 episode of Gilmore Girls featuring me!” He added the hashtag #mindblown.

He linked to a 2016 article by Bustle that noted, “Don't kick yourself if you don't remember it, though — it was a relatively low-key role, and Malek never reappeared on the series after. … It's just significant that Malek, who is now one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood, was once a small part of the series that, even now, [19] years after its premiere, is still heavily talked about.”

The actor went on to star in Mr. Robot before starting work on Bohemian Rhapsody, which was already the most successful music biopic of all time before it won four Oscars last night – more than any other movie in contention. Malek himself won the Best Actor award.
