‘Shop With A Cop’ Event Coming Up, Benefits South Idaho Children
An annual event that brings together multiple Idaho law enforcement agencies and community families is coming up in just a few days. Toy donations are currently being accepted by a south Idaho sheriff's department, which is joining the event for its first year.
Southern Idaho, like so many areas of the United States, has families struggling financially that fall into the poverty class. One of the best things about Christmas is giving to others and helping people less fortunate experience the magic of the holiday.
The 5th annual 'Shop With A Cop' event is happening on December 13 at the Jerome, Idaho, Walmart. It's hosted once again by the Jerome Police Department. This year, along with help from the Idaho State Police, the Gooding Sheriff's Department is getting in on the giving as well.

I had the chance on Friday afternoon (December 5) to chat with Patrol Deputy Sheriff Josh Lahnum of the Gooding Sheriff's Department about the event, who will be participating for the first time this year, along with the rest of his team.
'This event is all about the kids that otherwise wouldn't be getting a Christmas,' said Lahnum, who has a 3-year-old son of his own. 'The Gooding Sheriff's Department is beyond excited to give back to the community and be a part of something special.'

The kids will have the opportunity to pick out their own toys and snacks during the December 13 event, and will be accompanied by area law enforcement officials. Many area businesses contributed to this year's event, including Jesus Hurtado and Riverbend Dairies.

We would also like to thank all the officers and community members who are helping our southern Idaho kids have a wonderful Christmas.
