Craters of the Moon

It's easy to forget how exotic our landscape is in Southern Idaho. But, one photographer just shared a new video reminding us about one very unique thing you can do here that you can't easily do hardly anywhere else.

Craters of the Moon is starting to get a lot of attention for a brand new reason. It has just been named the best place in Idaho to view the night sky. Even better, there are chances for you to experience it yourself.

In case you missed it, there was quite a show in the sky a few nights ago. Thanks to an incoming solar storm, the northern lights were visible in many parts of Idaho. One photographer captured some amazing pics over Craters of the Moon.

Here's more proof that you shouldn't pay any attention to those national sites when you're looking for good travel advice.

We hear a lot about the Yellowstone super-volcano. Thanks to a national website, we've just been reminded that our real danger lies to our north where a couple dozen little volcanoes are waiting to kill us.

By now, it's a well-established fact that I'm a log cabin freak. It doesn't help that there is one that is available that's not that far from us. Truth is it's right next door to Craters of the Moon.

Craters of the Moon is a very unique place to visit any time of year and is completely worth the modest admission price. But, there are several days in 2017 when you can go for the wonderful price of free.

Craters of the Moon is a national monument. It's a good thing to be a national monument, but not as good as being a national park, apparently.

The one thing we do not lack in Idaho is rocks. If rockhounding is your thing, there is no better place to be than here.

It makes you wonder what people expect sometimes. You would think that if someone is traveling to Craters Of The Moon National Monument, they would have at least a slight idea of what the rocks look like. As it turns out, sometimes that is not the case.

We are blessed in Idaho to have many awesome destinations for tourists. However, if I'm being honest, I would have to admit that some of our locations might be a little overrated for one reason or another. I want to know which one you think would be most likely to disappoint.

Starting Saturday, April 16, you can go to Craters of the Moon National Reserve for the awesome price of free. Has someone in the government gone crazy? Probably. But, that's not this. Saturday is the beginning of National Park Week.
