For just about any band that eventually made it big, there's at least one guy who was in the lineup before they were famous -- their 'Pete Best,' if you will. But Jason Everman, who played guitar for Nirvana and bass for Soundgarden in the late '80s, narrowly missed his shot at the charts twice.

On Nov. 13, Soundgarden will release 'King Animal,' their sixth studio album. The first single and opening track, the aptly titled 'Been Away Too Long,' will be available digitally on Sept. 27.

Chris Cornell is truly one of the greatest voices in rock.  From Soundgarden to Audioslave, and great solo material, he knows how to give a song the emotion and passion it deserves.
