There are a ton of places to go hiking near Stanley and Redfish Lake. If you have never been to the Lily Pond, it is a bit of a hike but totally worth it. And if you are not much of a hiker there is actually a ferry you can take to reduce the stress of the hike.
The Sawtooth Mountains of central Idaho offer so many amazing recreational sites. Two off-the-grid hikes that lead to beautiful waterfalls can be found near Stanley, and both can easily be explored in the same day.
I am in the process of trying to find some places to explore backpacking. I found some places that I believe would be a good start for me and other beginners. If you can think of any more please let us know. I think I am going to have to try a few of these out when it isn't too hot out though.
I've been hearing a lot about an off the beaten path hike just a few miles outside of the city of Stanley, that some I've spoken to consider one of the best statewide.
If you are looking for some places to go on a day trip, maybe go swimming or fishing, these lakes are perfect. They are close enough for a day trip and can be a lot of fun. These lakes are anywhere from 30 minutes to about 3 hours away.
