It's estimated that more than three million ounces of gold have been unearthed in Idaho over the past 200 years. Some of the highest remaining concentrations of gold in the state are thought to be concealed along rivers in central and southwestern Idaho.
A Gem State prospector, considered one of the state's most educated and successful miners, recently shared information on locations he believes would yield the most gold. The thing to remember is to never seek gold on private land or near claims owned by someone else.
The idea of buried treasure has been inspiring human beings to set off on explorations for thousands of years. While some have been lucky enough to cash in, most gold seekers spend valuable time and resources and never 'strike it rich.' Idaho's gold rush began in 1860 with the discovery of gold near Pierce, Idaho, according to Farmonaut.

The counties of Clearwater, Lemhi, Idaho, Latah, Nez Perce, and Adams are reported hot spots, according to Ralph. Metal detecting and dredging are the two methods of gold exploration that the seasoned miner discusses in his video, which includes a map of where gold has been located over the years.
