There's a wooded, swampy area a short drive over the Idaho border into Oregon that has attracted many visitors after sunset for decades attempting to discover the origin of a bone-chilling phenomenon. The terrifying, nocturnal sounds described as a combination of human and animal were captured in 2012 by a paranormal investigator, and its source remains unidentified to this day.

The goings-on reported to take place near the swamp at night are well-known by those on the reservation, with some in the community believing the source to be that of a legendary cryptid known as a Wendigo, according to Reddit.

Approximately 220 miles west of Grangeville, Idaho you'll find the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The reservation spans over 270 square miles and is home to roughly 3,000 residents, according to the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission (CRITFC). Near the reservation is a swampy region that has been attracting paranormal investigators who have been trying to identify the cause of reported haunting screams that are said to be heard between midnight and 3 A.M.
