WATCH: First Butt Pucker Video Of 2025 Goes To Idaho Ice Climber
Idahoans love a good outdoor challenge. I used to think the state's BASE jumpers were the most insane thrill seekers across the land, but I forgot about those deranged Gem State enthusiasts who like to scale thousands of feet of brittle ice wearing tiny spikes on their boots while swinging razor-sharp axes. I think we have a toss-up.
I'm always amazed when I hear of people using weeks of vacation to test their limits of peril. I'm just not built this way. Call me crazy, but I tend not to push myself to the brink of death when enjoying some time away from the office.

They say to never look down, but this climber's style is anything but conventional.
Then, you have those people who defend high-risk lifestyles and say things like, "Well, you can die crossing the street," and that's true and also hard to dispute. The craziest thing I've ever done was kayak on an Idaho river on magic mushrooms at night with two friends of mine. Why would I admit to this? Because people's definition of crazy varies from person to person.
A YouTube short video upload from January 20, 2025, is one of the more intense visuals I've come across in a while. The fact the publisher dubbed in some Beastie Boys earned extra bonus points for this truly sick, adrenaline-pumping Idaho outdoor video. The exact location isn't given in the video, and that's the way Idahoans prefer it.
I don't know much about the hobby of ice climbing, but damn, some of the axe blades don't appear to wedge too deep into the frozen mountainside before the climber pushes on toward the summit. The height of this climb also appears to be way out of my comfort zone. They say to never look down, but this climber's style is anything but conventional.
