There's no shortage of spots in Idaho to take a several thousand-foot BASE jump off a perfectly good rock cliff. Thanks to the Perrine Bridge, Twin Falls is a mecca for the hobby, but less than three hours north is a cluster of mountains and lakes where people can get in an entire day of hiking and end it with a life-changing jump.

Idaho is easily one of the top states for BASE jumping. The 486-foot tall Perrine Bridge in southern Idaho is the top destination for jumpers in the entire land. If I had a dollar for every jump I've witnessed from that bridge, I could afford a new kayak.

At one point in the clip, you can see him narrowly miss a granite ridge as he parachutes down. Talk about an insane jump!

One of my family's favorite places to visit in the summer months is Stanley Lake. The area is approximately 70 miles northwest of Sun Valley, and Red Fish Lake and Alturas Lake are a stone's throw from Stanley. Just a few miles from Stanley is a place called Elephant's Perch, and it's one of the prettiest spots in all the Gem State.

If you were to take the entire hike up the mountain you would ascend more than 9,600 feet, which is taller than Half Dome in Yosemite by several hundred feet. July through September are the best times of year to do the hike and BASE jump.

A recent YouTube short upload from January 16, 2025, shows a brave jumper perfectly executing the landing into a lake beneath. At one point in the clip, you can see him narrowly miss a granite ridge as he parachutes down. Talk about an insane jump!
