(KLIX) – Transportation officials have closed a portion of Interstate 15 in eastern Idaho  because of wintry weather that has caused hazardous road conditions.

Heavy snowfall and winds have created hazardous driving conditions on the interstate from Dubois to the Montana border, the Idaho Transportation Department said on Wednesday afternoon.

The department said conditions have prompted officials to close the road from the border to milepost 167.

“Because the surrounding areas are experiencing similar conditions, there is no detour from that area,” ITD said in a statement. “Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and/or find alternate routes if possible.”
