What Were the Most Popular Baby Names in 2013?

Aiden's been bumped from an eight-year reign, according to BabyCenter, as the most popular baby name for boys. Jackson is the new king of boy names, while Aiden tumbled to second place.

Sophia remained at number one among girls for the fourth year running.  Change her last name to Vergara, and you are IN, my friend.

500,000 parents shared their babies’ names in 2013.  The list does combine names that sound the same but have multiple spellings (Sophia/Sofia; Jackson/Jaxon/Jaxson, etc).

2013 Baby Name Trends:

• Miley jumped 16 spots among girls.  Foam finger sales [NSFW pic!] undoubtedly rose this year as well.
• George rose 37% for girls and 10% for boys, thanks mainly to the birth of Prince George in the UK.
• Could this be the ‘Duck Dynasty’ effect? Korie rocketed up 13,262 places.
• Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may have gone out of the box to name their daughter North, but it sure didn’t catch on. There was not one parent who chose that name.
• Kennedy was up at least 20% for boys (25%) and girls (21%), while Abraham (20%) and Lincoln (11%) also saw an increase.
• The president and first lady may not be winning fans among constituents, but their names are beloved. Barack soared 48% among boys, while Michelle moved up 13%.
• Aria bounced up 36 places to number 27 to enjoy the biggest increase for girls in the top 100, while Oliver zoomed a dozen spots at number 21 to be the biggest climber in the boys camp in the top 100.
• Peyton was the big loser for girls in the top 100, slipping 31 places to 59. Austin fell 17 places to 73 for the biggest drop among boys in the top 100.
