Compared to other cities in the United States, Twin Falls is a relatively safe place to live. City police can't be everywhere at once, and criminals are well aware of what areas provide them with a higher likelihood of getting away with efforts to break the law, which can leave some residents feeling frustrated and unsafe.

Thankfully, murders and other violent crimes don't happen very often in Twin Falls, but there is still a need for authorities to act quickly when they are reported. Overall, I feel safe living in the Magic Valley and believe the police and county sheriff's department are doing a great job.

I lived in southern Idaho for six years. I never once had a home or automobile break-in. I think a big reason for that was the fact my neighbor was a Twin Falls police officer who worked days so his unmarked vehicle was parked in the driveway most evenings.

Burglars and car thieves tend to target properties that offer easy escape routes and less surrounding homes, according to adt.com. Drug dealing, theft, and sexual predators are just a part of living in most cities in America, and police are aware of what areas in town pose higher risks to residents. These troublespots should be given higher priority over others.

The one area of the city that I remember had a lot of criminal activity was Rock Creek Park. I covered numerous incidents involving drug use, assaults, and other nefarious activity in the park between 2017 and 2022, and many people I know started avoiding the area altogether because of it.
