Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Wood River Region

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for elevations above 6,000 feet including parts of the Wood River Region. The storm could drop 4 to 10 inches of snow on parts of Idaho.

The first snow of fall season is expected in high elevations. A strong cold front will move through eastern Idaho this evening and usher in much colder temperatures. Expect snow levels to gradually drop to around 7 thousand feet overnight and then to 6 thousand feet by Wednesday evening in the central mountains and upper Snake River highlands. Mountain passes may become snow covered Wednesday morning with the threat for snow continuing through Thursday.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Winter Weather Advisory above 6000 feet for snow which is in effect from 6 am Wednesday to noon Thursday.

• 4 to 10 inches of snowfall possible.
• Locations include: Island Park, Monida Pass, Galena Summit, Smiley Creek Lodge, Willow creek summit.
• Mountain passes may become snow covered. Reduced visibility in snowfall and dangerous driving conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Use caution while driving.
