BOISE, Idaho (AP) — State officials have again delayed cutting down and transporting the state Christmas tree to the Statehouse in Boise due to weather conditions.

Idaho Department of Administration spokeswoman Jennifer Pike says Monday's planned tree cutting has been postponed due to unsafe harvest conditions. A new date and time wasn't provided. The 50-foot blue spruce was initially scheduled to be cut down Friday but that was postponed to Monday.

Plans are for the tree to eventually be placed at the Statehouse in front of the Jefferson Street steps where it will be decorated by state workers. Boise had a record cold temperature for the date on Monday with 6 degrees. Slick driving conditions have also made travel difficult in the Boise area and other parts of southwest Idaho.
