BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State University and Idaho National Laboratory are collaborating on a cybersecurity laboratory that is expected to open this summer.

KIVI-TV reports that the institutions received a million dollars in support of the initiative. Idaho National Laboratory will contribute expertise while BSU graduate students will help with the cutting-edge research. The facility will research best practices in defending infrastructure from incursion by hackers or hostile state actors.

Gov. Butch Otter mentioned the initiative in his State of the State address and the Idaho Legislature included funding in the budget that passed shortly after that.
