I've checked into some creepy motels in my days, but I've never experienced anything remotely close to what a southwestern Nevada property is advertising. If I'm looking for a place to rest my head after a long drive, I'm not sure lodging that offers clown decor and a view of a reportedly haunted cemetery out my window will result in a good night's sleep.

As far as alleged haunted hotels go, I've rolled the dice and stayed overnight at several across the Western United States. Virginia City's Silver Queen Hotel in Nevada and California's Holbrooke Hotel are two that left permanent impressions on me. My wife once worked the front desk at The Holbrooke in Grass Valley, and the two of us stayed in the bridal suite for several nights while the property was on the verge of getting sold, and were the only soles in the building at the time.

Two properties I hope to get to check out before my days end are the Stanley Hotel in Colorado and Oregon's Timberland Lodge. Both sites have ties to my favorite horror movie of all time, the 1980 masterpiece The Shining.

Clowns are freaky enough, but you throw a cemetery across the parking lot into the mix, and you've got yourself an evening of sleep paralysis just waiting for you.

Tonopah, Nevada, is a small town of approximately 2,200 people. It also has a one-of-a-kind motel that offers guests the occasional roaming clown, clown-themed rooms and gift shop, and oh yeah, it just so happens to be located next to a reported haunted cemetery. Even the Ghost Adventures crew did an investigation there a few years back.

Washington House on Nightmare on Zillow Street

You really can't judge a book - or a house - by its cover. This one looks pretty OK from the outside, but inside you can tell there are stories and probably hauntings there. Also, is that a massive blood stain in the 3rd picture?! This place is listed on Zillow for $275,000.
