A New Jersey man is recovering after being gored by a Yellowstone National Park bison on Tuesday. It's the second such incident this year involving an East Coast family within park boundaries.

For the second time in 2025, a man is recovering after having been struck by a charging bison while vacationing at Yellowstone National Park. The extent of the individual's injuries hasn't been fully disclosed to date. Bison do not respond well to having their space encroached upon and can become defensive.

A June 11 report out of Yellowstone National park has described an incident that took place earlier this week involving an unidentified, 30-year-old male who sustained injuries after 'getting too close' to a bison, according to The Guardian. The incident happened just before 10 A.M. in the Upper Geyser Basin area, according to KPAX.

Back in May, a Florida man was involved in a similar confrontation and also survived the incident, according to The Guardian. These run-ins between park animals and tourists (aka "tourons") happen all too frequently. In most cases, attempts to get pictures close to the animals are what triggers these attacks.

There have also been multiple reports of children being allowed to get too close to bison inside the park this year. Park officials encourage visitors to give animals a lot of space when taking photographs and to never walk directly up to any wildlife that might be present.
