Al Ewing Talks Sam Wilson And “Season 2″ With ‘Captain America & The Mighty Avengers’
Mighty Avengers is getting a new #1 and a new title this November. At the Avengers NOW panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, Marvel announced that the series will relaunch as Captain America & The Mighty Avengers -- with former Falcon Sam Wilson taking point as the new Captain America. That means a second title series for Wilson's Cap, and a second chance for readers to discover the book.
Al Ewing continues as writer, with former Captain America artist Luke Ross taking over as regular series artist. ComicsAlliance spoke to Ewing to find out why the book is relaunching, how he plans to handle Sam's promotion, and what it means to write the only Avengers book with a predominantly non-white team.
Remender And Opena Team For ‘Avengers: Rage Of Ultron’ Original Graphic Novel
Marvel unveiled its next original graphic novel at the All-AXIS panel at San Diego Comic-Con this afternoon; Avengers: Rage of Ultron, by Uncanny Avengers writer Rick Remender and former lead Avengers artist Jerome Opeña. It promises to be... all the rage. Ho ho.
The story pits a mixed bag of Avengers against a "Planet Ultron" formed when Ultron takes over the computer core in Saturn's moon of Titan (which is a thing that exists in the Marvel Universe and, who knows, maybe in ours as well). Ultron creator Hank Pym may be able to save the day... but at what cost?
New Portrait Of Ben Affleck’s Glorious Bat Chin Sighted In San Diego
The cunning folks at DC Entertainment snuck an exclusive new image of Ben Affleck's Batman out into the world by hiding it in plain sight at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The DC booth features a montage of Batman images celebrating the Dark Knight's 75th anniversary -- and in among those images is a never-before-seen picture of Batfleck's impressive Bat chin in profile.
We already saw a fuzzy glimpse of Batfleck from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder earlier this year -- and we noticed at the time how very Frank Millery it looks. Earlier today we also gawked at Batfleck's cape and cowl on the convention floor -- and it was but a spectral apparition without a meaty Ben Affleck to fill it.
Warner Bros. Shows Off Ben Affleck’s Bat Hat And Bat Coat, But No Bat Suit
If you're one of the unlucky millions who can't be in the giant steaming San Diego convention hangar this weekend, you probably won't get a chance to get up close and personal with the glass cabinet containing a bit of Ben Affleck's costume from next summer's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Sucks to be you! No proximity to Afflatex for you!
The small DC nation state on the con floor is showcasing a lot of Batmemorabilia to mark the Caped Crusader's 75th anniversary -- including the new movie Batman's actual crusading cape and crime-detecting cowl from Zack Snyder's sure-to-be poignant summer batbuster.
Marvel Unveils Concept Art Posters For ‘Age Of Ultron’ And ‘Ant-Man'; Updated With All The Avengers
With Marvel's big Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday sure to be another roof-raising scrum of announcements and celebrity appearances, the studio is hoping to stir up more anticipation with the release of concept art posters for next year's big releases.
The first poster, for Peyton Reed's Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, uses concept art by Andy Park, and debuted on Entertainment Weekly. The posers for Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron come are by Ryan Meinerding, and should eventually slot together to form one giant image. Presumably posters featuring Quicksilver, Thor, Hawkeye, and Hulk, will follow over the course of the weekend.

Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club Sequel Coming From Dark Horse With Art By Cameron Stewart
Eighteen years after Fight Club first saw print, author Chuck Palahniuk is returning to the world of Project Mayhem for a sequel -- which will take the form of a ten issue comic book series illustrated by Cameron Stewart and published by Dark Horse.
Speaking to USA Today, Palahniuk promises that the comic will pick up ten years after the events of the novel (which ends a little differently to the 1999 movie adaptation) with the unnamed Narrator struggling to be a good father to his nine-year-old son Junior, and not to repeat the mistakes his own father made with him.

Original Spin 6: Black Captain America! (Does Not Appear In This Comic) [Marvel Original Sin Recap]
Welcome back to Original Spin, the unofficial recap of the Marvel comic event Original Sin, by Jason Aaron and Mike Deodato -- which probably feeds in to the Marvel comic event AXIS, and somewhere in all that we'll get a lady Thor and a black Cap, and that will be very exciting. Black Captain America!
In the meantime it's still dude Thor and white and surprisingly Irish Captain America, and you have to read all these other comics that aren't the ones they're talking about in USA Today. Ugh, comics are dumb. So, to catch you up; the Watcher got shot and someone did it, and black Captain America isn't in this comic but we're desperate for attention.
Avengers NOW: A Black Captain America, A Female Thor, A Superior Iron Man, And What It Means For Marvel And Diversity
On Tuesday morning Whoopi Goldberg and the hosts of The View announced that Marvel will relaunch Thor this October with a 'worthy' woman brandishing the hammer. Marvel followed that announcement with two more high profile switcheroos on Wednesday night as Entertainment Weekly revealed a new-ish and possibly superior Iron Man, and Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada joined comedian Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report to announce that a new guy will take up Captain America's shield.
That in itself isn't much of a surprise -- original Cap Steve Rogers has passed on his mantle a few times, before eventually yanking it back. After spending some time in Dimension Z and fighting the Iron Nail and whatnot, he's now too old to Avenge from the front lines. The big reveal is that the new Captain America will be Sam Wilson, the African-American superhero currently known as Falcon.
This Is What Ultron Will Look Like In The ‘Avengers’ Movie Sequel
This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly goes behind the scenes on the set of the Avengers movie sequel Age of Ultron, directed by Joss Whedon -- and the cover offers a first glimpse of the movie version of the tin-plated villain who'll be giving the Avengers so much trouble. Or, technically, versions.
