Yellowstone National Park tourists were horrified Saturday morning to witness the death of a bison that wandered into the park's largest thermal pool.

The one thing that visitors to Yellowstone National Park can bank on is seeing bison roaming the landscape. The animals are all over the park, and sometimes they roam into unsafe areas of the park like roadways and thermal pools and are seriously injured or die.

The Grand Prismatic Spring is the park's largest thermal pool. It is over 120 feet deep and exceeds temperatures of 160 degrees, according to the National Park Service. Every so often, animals and people are injured or suffer fatal burns as a result of falling in to these scalding, mineral-rich bodies of water that are full of bacteria.

The footage is hard to watch and was shot by a park tourist who uploaded the video to YouTube. These creatures are a big tourist draw along with the rest of the park's wildlife. It's unfortunate when the animals make the mistake of wandering into these pools, and more times than not, the consequences are deadly.
