While the Democrats of California do continue to far outnumber those who cast Republican ballots, a growing percentage of the state's red voters have been steadily relocating to Idaho for the past couple of years. Housing costs, the refusal by some insurance companies to offer fire reimbursement coverage, a widening liberal reputation, disdain for the state's governor, and other factors are causing some in California to head to the mountains and deserts of the northeast.

In just a few days, Donald Trump will reprise his role as commander-in-chief of the United States and begin his second term in the White House. The election wasn't even close, and it's obvious that there are a lot of Americans who want to give Trump another shot at steering the ship through 2029, despite how ugly people believe things may have gotten in the weeks before Joe Biden took over.

California Republicans are making Idaho an even stronger red-party presence, and this GOP migration doesn't appear to be ending anytime soon.

Having lived most of my life in California, when the term "South of the Border" would come up in conversation at work or around friends and family, it usually was said in a negative way as in, you're taking a huge risk heading "South of the Border."

"South of the Border" stirs up images for many Californians of drug cartels, murder, despair, lawlessness, and theft in a city of nearly 2.3 million souls. I have driven through and walked the streets of Tijuana numerous times, and I've always enjoyed my time there. Perhaps I've been lucky.

Reports of many California Republicans moving to Idaho have been going on for years now. Some sources say that over 70 percent of people crossing the Idaho border from California to settle down and buy property are Republicans. Many Idaho natives would probably already argue that they have their own "South of the Border" problems.
