TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)-Two Magic Valley groups serving children have been awarded grants for after-school programs. The Idaho State Department of Education announced the Cassia County School District and Boys and Girls Club of the Magic Valley as the local recipients of the Nita M Lowey 21st Century Learning Centers program grants. Six other schools and organizations across the state will also get part of the $1.88 million in learning programs grants. “Each of these grants serves the unique local needs of these organizations or districts,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra in a prepared statement. “Extending our educational reach outside of regular school hours helps reduce achievement gaps and eases families’ childcare costs, and I’m pleased that the State Department of Education is able to make this possible for our communities.”
Cassia schools will get $132,401 while the Boys and Girls Club will get $100,000. The grants gun for five years.
