Expand Your Knowledge in the Kitchen at CSI in Twin Falls
The phrase is often said, "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach." Truer words have never been spoken. The only thing that would make the phrase more accurate is to say, "to anyone's heart is through their stomach." There are always ways to improve a person's cooking, baking, and talent in the kitchen. Nobody knows everything in the kitchen and it is because of this that taking classes, buying cookbooks, and scrolling through the internet for new techniques and recipes is always encouraged. At the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) in Twin Falls, there are a few classes that you may want to attend to make your own stomach happier, as well as your family's.
How To Make Homemade Tamales
There is a class taking place on how to make homemade tamales on Saturday, February 5, and Saturday, March 12 from 2 PM - 4:30 PM. The class will cost $30 plus an extra $15 for supplies. They will teach you how to make homemade shredded chicken tamales. If you have ever had fresh tamales, but don't know how to make them, then this is a class you are going to want to take. It is hard to find good fresh tamales at times, and this class will help you take matters into your own hands (literally) and make them in any way you prefer.
The Science of Making Pizza and Ice Cream
If tamales are not your style, or if you want to continue to learn more, there will be a science of making pizza and ice cream class on Friday, February 11 from 1 PM - 3:30 PM. This class is for ages 8 and up, but I don't see why adults can't participate as well. The cost is $25 and you will have fun making mini pizzas as well as how to make your very own ice cream. You can make ice cream with simple ingredients in the house and will learn how to make different flavors. It is a fun science class as well as a cooking lesson. You must pre-register so the instructor can have enough supplies.
Sausage and Jerky Making
If you don't like tamales and you feel awkward being in a science class about cooking, then maybe attending the sausage and jerky-making class is more your style. The class takes place Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5, and costs $30 plus $10 for supplies. Pre-registration is required for this class as well, so the instructor can have enough supplies. If you love jerky and sausage or have someone in your family that does, then this class is ideal. If there is a hunter in the family and they are looking for other options to prepare their meat, this is a great class to let them know about.
There are a ton of classes always taking place at CSI and it is worth checking out their calendar often to see what is happening. Maybe none of these classes are your style, but there are always new ones happening. If you are looking to expand your knowledge in the kitchen and are wanting to meet some people, learn some new skills, and have some fun then make sure to attend one, two, or all of these classes coming up. They all sound delicious to me, and using your new skills can make the people in your lives very happy. Slap on an apron and get to class so you can expand your creativity in the kitchen today.
