Federal Government Shutdown – Kids Can’t Get their Cancer Treatments
This whole federal government shut down is just a slap in the face. Government employees (the ones we care about, people like you and me) are scared and don't know how long they will not be paid and now kids suffering from cancer will not be able to continue their clinical trials till the Federal government decides to compromise.
John Burklow, a spokesman for the National Institutes of Health, estimated that 200 patients would experience these delays each week of the shutdown. Since 15 percent of these patients are typically children, and 33 percent of these children have cancer, that means the patients facing delays would include about 30 children per week, 10 of whom have cancer, he said.
On a positive note, it seems a KKK rally was cancelled by the Federal Government shut down.
Also, can our Federal government do math? Do they not get that the Insurance Exchanges that just started this week will either bankrupt health insurance companies or you and I?
I'm trying very hard to NOT give up, but it ain't easy!
