Former Alice In Chains Bassist Mike Starr Dies In Utah
Sad news today regarding former Alice In Chains bass player and ‘Celebrity Rehab’ alumni Mike Starr, who was found dead this afternoon in a Salt Lake City home, at the age of 44.
You might remember that he was arrested last month for felony possession of a controlled substance, Salt Lake City police found several painkillers on him at the time of the arrest. Starr left AIC during the Dirt tour back in 1993 – revealing later that it was due to a increasing addiction to drugs, which later claimed the life of bandmate Layne Staley. Mike did a short stint in a group called Sun Red Sun – with former Black Sabbath singer Ray Gillen, who died shortly afterwards from AIDS-related complications.
Mike’s heroin addiction landed him on “Celebrity Rehab”, and the spin-off “Sober House”.
