Former Idaho Athlete Once Float Tubed With Stolen $400,000
The majority of people who commit bank robberies don't go on to become authors and role models for children. This is what makes the story of one former Idaho sports standout remarkable because that's exactly what happened.
No one is perfect. We've all done some stupid crap in our time on this planet. Lord knows I was headed down a dark path before I woke up one morning in 1996 and decided to grow up.
We're human. We screw up, sometimes royally! It's what you do with the lessons you learn that ultimately defines you.

One of the great things about being an adult is that we can help kids avoid making terrible decisions by sharing our experiences with them. A few weeks before COVID-19 hit the United States in 2020, I started writing my first book in the basement of our home in Twin Falls, Idaho. It's partly about redirecting the course of your life after making mistakes; I refer to it as a time capsule for my children.

I recently read about the story of an Idaho man who was at one time a great football player. An injury that cost him a chance to pursue professional football was the spark that ignited his downward spiral which included stealing $400,000 from an armored vehicle in 2008. No one was injured, and he left the scene of the crime riding a plastic raft down an Idaho river only to be apprehended a short time later, according to a 2016 USA Today story.
After serving his time, he went on to be a motivational speaker and author. He has helped spread a message of hope to young kids that if you make mistakes, you can "right the ship."
